Who Enjoys Splicing?

I just got back my one film from processing.

Unluckily, watching it was like buying a can of worms.

There is so much to do with this film, so I am starting it off simple by splicing it all day. Tomorrow, we can worry about the rest.

Ode to Live Cinema as a Whole

As mentioned in the “First Apology”, live cinema was not created by me. Live cinema performances have been happening sporatically throughout the world of underground cinema and film. So as an ode to other live cinema performers, I took it upon myelf to reearch the art of live cinema.

Nowhere did I find such an elightening article about it, other than at  http://naute.wordpress.com/2009/03/16/live-cinema-narrative/ .

The piece on that page is an eye opening video of one of the first Live Cinema productions, Kaamos.

As I continue to research, I keep getting more and more ideas for our project. Not only will our project showcase the new-age of underground film, but it will also be the first to embrace dialogue as a part of performance. Also, if plans go well, it will be the first project to bring live cinema to cities outside of the fetival realm.

Update and Director’s Bio

Hello world!

As of right now, the project is at a standtill until I get my hands on  my second film and get the keys to the flatbed room. But, as of now the project stand exactly where it was 24 hours ago, 1 film done, one on its way, more films to be created and cript to be written.

I have a feeling  nopw, however, that I must keep this site udated nearly everyday to get the support I need for the project. Everyone should check out the ADS FOR HELP page. The more help I have the easier it will be to complete the project.

Since there i a lack of stuff to update now (as there will probably be until Tuesday), I will educate you all about myself.

My name is Seth Black, but like to go by Seth Tyler Black. I am currently a college sophomore at the University at Buffalo, majoring in psychology and minoring in media studies. Most people don’t understand the connection between the two, but I do. Ask me to explain it and you have a 2 hour conversation on your hands.

I used to write for the York Daily Record, a newspaper in south-central Pennsylvania. I wrote on a variety of topics, but focused the majority of the time to the poetry section. I was often called the ‘poetry kid’ in the newspaper room where me and fellow teen journalists assembled. I was often praised for my poems that didn’t mind exploring the ‘sensitive, surreal and imaginative’ side of the human naturel. It is in that room that I not only nourished my passion for the creative arts, but also picked up my reputation of being the ‘modern hippy’ with no inhibitions when it came to discussing or writing about unocietal, or taboo, subjects.

My journalism career came to an  end once my college one started. With my newspaper days, somewhat, behind me, I focused my creative energy towards writing more poetry and trying to find an agent. In that time, I also started a screenplay called “Predisposition”. It wasn’t until a film class that I realized I could put all of my creative passions into one project, and that project is House of Live Cinema. With the help and support of friends and others, I wish this project to be a great success.

First Apology

Sorry to say, I must make my first apology.

To all of the film directors and critics who dabble in live cinema:
I agree full heartedly that this project will not be the first to dabble in live sound film screenings. I do believe, however, that this project will be the first to intertwine all aspects of live sound into a performance. House of Live Cinema will have live soundtrack, live band music, and live dialogue performed over-top of a silent film.

Sorry for the misunderstanding,
Seth Black

Films Considered

Hello world! It’s Seth.

Just to put a quick, well, first update.

Currently the project has 2 films. One of them is processed and only has to be spliced. The other is currently being processed and will go through a rigorous splicing process. Both of these films will have to undergo a script-writing process.

There is another film that is being considered, that is not by myself, but would add much character to the project. This great addition to the project would, first, need permission from the creator, then it would undergo a splicing and script-writing process.

So much to do in this project, and I am currently the only one working on it! Check out my ADS FOR HELP page, https://soundcinema.wordpress.com/ads-for-help/ .

I could also use everyone’s help with your WORD OF MOUTH. Help me to promote this new project, that is still in it’s young stages, so that it gets noticed.

Once again, I am currently putting together a program for the project and would appreciate some help once eptember or October rolls around so that we can get these shows on the road!

Promotional Photographs

Here are some promotional photos for the project.

Welcome to the House of Live Cinema

For a lack of anything better to say,  hello world.

Before I flood you all with films, project updates and show dates, let me first explain to you what we strive to do.

There is nothing that one could compare this new project that I am working on to. Basically take a silent film as the base. Get some actors behind microphones. Take some dramatic sequences and put a live band’s music and paste it in the background.

That is basically the easiest way to put it. We wish to reinvent the underground film industry with this brand new concept of live film screenings.

This blog provides the outlet for project updates, project needs, dates for presentations and much more. Some promotional material will also appear on this site.
